The Definitive Map of Mainframe

“I finally, really did it… I drew it up!”

I can’t believe it’s finally over.  After 7 months of brain-melting, retina-peeling pencil and pen work…  It’s done!

You’ll pardon me if I don’t have anything left to say about it, haha.  The past month was the final sprint toward the finish line – I put down everything else I was doing to finish.  From finishing off G-Prime, to adding all the vehicles and Vid-Windows.  Then I had to add shadow and up the contrast to make it pop.  What a trip though.  What a memory.  Speaking of, let’s take a little look at it from conception through to completion.

Finally, while I have done this Map of Mainframe for my own twisted love of pain, if you’re interested in seeing more art (and maps!), please consider supporting me on Patreon.  Thank-you!

Making a Map of Mainframe (Part 18)

So, I know I said two weeks ago that I was done. But after two weeks more of work on the map, I realized just how much more done I can be if I put another couple weeks or so into it. Haha.

Making a Map of Mainframe (Part 11)

They made Kitsilano, Vancouver into a sector… I wonder why they stopped there. Maybe there’s a Metrotown around Mainframe someplace. Or maybe the Principal Office is modelled after Science World?? Perhaps the information highways were inspired by the Skytrain?? Oo-er! Vancouver is Mainframe!

This sector was brought to you by the Incoming Game Podcast and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Making a Map of Mainframe (Part 9)

I’m inking this week! That means solidifying the forms. It also means having to remember less of what I’ve drawn in pencil so far. With all the overlapping lines of detail, it’s hard to keep track!

Of course I started with my favourite sector, Floating Point Park. But I also did Lost Angles and the Saucy Mare. Looking good, Mainframe!
